DevOps Engineer (Cloud Native)
The DER Touristik Online GmbH was founded in 2014 as a corporate start-up and digital speedboat of the European travel giant DER Touristik (approx. 10.000 employees in 14 countries).
We are a group of enthusiastic travel thinkers who build and run the group’s digital e-commerce platform, passionately focused on calculated bets, a thirst for learning, and thoughtful use of data in order to build an extraordinary experience for our travel customers.
Due to imminent growth and an ambitious platform revision we are looking for experienced DevOps Engineers to help us delivering a market leading e-commerce experience in the travel sphere.
You will have the opportunity to melt your expertise with a state-of-the-art tech stack and a bold business strategy. As part of a cross-functional team with end-2-end responsibility you will have a meaningful impact on product features, new directions in travel, and customer engagement.
Responsibilities
- Build a delightful, scalable and secure web development environment for/with your cross-functional software engineering teams
- Take full ownership of a cloud native infrastructure from design to implementation to deployment and maintenance
- Build, implement and operate delightful and scalable CI/CD pipelines for our services/teams
- Build and improve monitoring/alerting strategies and guidelines
- Continuously optimise our service performance and reliability in collaboration with our product management and engineering teams
- Participate in architecture and software development activities
- You interested in our business objectives and propose a feasible technical architecture and solutions
- You actively participate in our agile process, analyze features while they are being built, and point out flaws and omissions
- Creative and innovative thinking to identify possible future problems
- Manage your individual priorities, deadlines and deliverables and measure your success by looking at the overall user experience and usage data
- You help your team members progress with code reviews
- Documentation and communication of test results
Requirements
- You are a focused engineer with experience in consumer facing web environments and are happy, when your system is “always-up”
- You have a deep understanding of architecture and operations
- You share our passion for quality and believe in testing your infrastructure code
- Excitement to roll up sleeves and make a big impact on a rapidly growing product
- Strong sense of cloud native solutions and attuned to the fundamentals of site reliability engineering
- You write documentation when it can help other developers
- You are interested in questions about travel and new business models
Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
- You have proven experience in software/operations engineering and worked at least 3 years as an engineer focusing on site reliability engineering and DevOps principles
- Hands-on experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, Python, JavaScript, C++, or Go
- Advanced level knowledge of containerisation and container orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes.
- Experience administering and deploying development CI/CD tools such as Git, Jira, GitLab, or Jenkins
- Experience with infrastructure scripting solutions such as Terraform, Ansible etc.
- You have full proficiency with German and English.
